CNC machine for making PCBs:

This is a CNC milling machine for making PCBs, designed and built by Ray. He used FreePCB to design the boards for the electronics. He etched the first set of boards, but has since modified them, using the machine to make new boards for itself. Sort of makes your head spin, doesn't it ?

Stepper motor controller :

Contributed by Josef ("60 Hertz Jig" from the User Forum).

RFID-based access control system :

Developed and fabricated at home by Pradheep Shrinivasan, with help from Balaji Srinivasan and Vivek Swaminathan.

Keyer for ham radio:

This is a CAD-generated "photo" of a board used in a keyer for Ham radio. You can learn more here.

Pinball CPU Tester:

This is a board for testing the CPU on certain pinball machines, designed by Ed Cheung. You can see a description here.

Header boards for a Ham transceiver:

This is a set of header boards designed to be used with a Ham transceiver.

Harmonica Amplifier:

This is a vacuum tube amplifier contributed by Robert Reynolds.

Logic Analyzer:

This is an open-source logic analyzer called MiniLA contributed by Bob Grieb of the User Forum.

Interface for Astronomy:

This is a guide port adapter for telescope mounts, contributed by Doug Anderson of Shoestring Astronomy

Embedded Rapid Prototype Module:

Contributed by Vignesh. This is an 8051 trainer kit that can program any 40 pin variant of 8051. It demonstrates how peripherals are accessed, how LCD can be interfaced and how serial communication can be done with PC.

This is a single-sided PCB, made by a local board house in India.

"Whizhard" competition:

Vignesh is a student at Thiagarajar College of Engineering in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India, in his senior year for a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. His college holds a hardware competition called "Whizhard" every year for the junior students. This year (2005) there were over 100 students and 34 projects, 32 of which were designed with FreePCB. "Magic Box" and Audio Distribution Box:

"Magic Box" for  handling incoming communication messages, and unit for distributing audio from 2 sources to 8 dispatch locations, contributed by a user in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Single-sided PCBs made by Keltek Printed Circuit in Winnipeg.

Electronic compass:

Electronic compass for robotics with extra space for prototyping, contributed by me. Double-sided PCB with plated-through holes, made by PCBExpress. I omitted the solder masks and silk-screen layer to save $$$.

Hearing Aid Loop & PA Amplifier:

Hearing aid loop and PA amplifier, contributed by Andrew Hamm (http://www.ahamm.co.uk/loop/combined.htm). Double-sided PCB with copper areas on the solder side.
